You've got frameworks. What you need is the capacity to hold your nerve when the framework runs out.

Stretch Lab

You already know something isn't working.

Not broken, exactly. But the strategies that carried you here keep reaching for ground that's no longer there.

You're not looking for another framework. You've got frameworks. What you need is different; it’s the capacity to hold your nerve when the framework runs out.

Most leadership development doesn't go here. It stays safe. Useful, but safe.

Stretch Lab isn't safe. It's a practice space for leaders who are done performing confidence and ready to actually build it. The kind that doesn't collapse when the pressure arrives.

This is a dojo, not a classroom.

We don't teach you about discomfort. We put you in it, carefully, and help you stay.

Because that's where capacity grows, staying even when you can't understand. In learning that you can hold more than you thought. That uncertainty doesn't have to trigger retreat. That conflict can be generative if you don't flinch away from it.

The territory we work in:

Acting decisively without false certainty.
Staying in productive conflict instead of smoothing it over.
Letting go of beliefs that once worked and no longer do.
Finding direction while moving, not before.
Working with what's emerging rather than what was planned.

What develops isn't a skill you can name on a CV. It's something deeper and more useful: the steadiness to lead when the ground shifts, and the range to meet what's coming without shrinking to fit it.

How it works

The Stretch Lab Sessions are built around your context, not a generic curriculum. We start by understanding where your edges actually are, the places where you or your team habitually retreat, resolve too quickly, or go numb. Then we work there.

A scoping session to understand your context and whether this is the right container. It’s a real conversation, not a generic intake form.

Monthly four-hour sessions working in the territory your team actually needs. Structured, but not scripted.

Weekly thirty-minute pause practice between sessions - this is what turns insight into capacity.

A closing session to reflect on what shifted, what remains, and how you carry the practice forward without us.

Entry points

Not sure if Stretch Lab is right for your organisation? Both are self-contained and serve as the natural starting point for the full series.

Come to Ground — a 90-minute taster session built around a single disorienting idea: there is always a place to stand, even in chaos. The work is learning to find it. R15,000 excl. VAT

The Orienting Workshop — a half-day for organisations considering the full series. The first two hours map the real landscape together. The second two hours narrow the focus. You'll receive a short observations report afterwards, not a summary of what was said, but what we noticed. R50,000 excl. VAT

The full series is scoped individually.

Who holds the space

Stretch Lab is created and led by Joanne Perold and Sonja Blignaut, two senior practitioners who are present in every session, bringing leadership development and complexity practice into one integrated experience.

Together, Stretch Lab arises from the meeting of their two bodies of work. It is not owned by either field alone. It is shaped by practice.

Learn more about Sonja

  • Throughout the series, you demonstrated an exceptional ability to meet us where we were, both as individuals and as a collective, and to identify the stretching required for our growth. Your deep understanding of systems thinking enabled you to surface and address root causes that we did not initially recognise ourselves.

    Participant

  • "Thank you once again for the meaningful impact you’ve had on our team."

  • Participating in the StretchLab series has been a profoundly human experience – a journey of discovery rather than instruction.

    Participant

  • For me, this journey was both collective and deeply personal. It reflected the places where I hold on too tightly, and it reminded me of the freedom that comes when I allow myself to respond with choice and authenticity. It showed me that growth is not about managing change, but about breathing and living into it – with awareness and congruence.

Start the conversation

We offer the Stretch Lab to only a small number of organisations each year to preserve the depth and integrity. If you'd like to be one of them, the first step is a conversation, not a commitment.

We'll listen to what's actually going on and tell you honestly whether Stretch Lab is the right container for it.
